Criminal and administrative charges are being looked into by both the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) and the City Legal Office against a jail officer who supposedly brandished a gun at medical personnel assigned at one of the city´s holding areas last Sunday (Sept. 13).

´Both the city police and the City Legal Officer will look into the case and affidavits will be required from the medical personnel (who were threatened by the jail officer). As I said we will not let this incident pass, we cannot take this abuse of power sitting down,´ Mayor Moreno said during Tuesday noon´s (Sept. 15) press briefing.

The jail officer reportedly brandished his firearm at medical personnel assigned at the holding area after voicing impatience over the delays in testing. Mayor Moreno earlier said the Department of Health (DOH-10) hired additional personnel to speed up testing of those confined at the city´s isolation units.

City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said it took sometime for the medical personnel to have the incident blottered at the nearest police precinct. ´I am scheduled to meet with the medical personnel this afternoon (Sept. 15) to listen to their concerns. Their schedules are very tight because of the large number of arrivals at the city isolation units who need swabbing,´ Dr. Nery said.

Aside from asking the City Legal Office to help prepare the affidavits of their medical personnel, Dr. Nery also said she talked with the city police on the possibility of providing security to their staff assigned at the city´s holding areas. ´There were delays in the filing of report since we advised the personnel to undergo disinfection first because we don´t want them to cause infection (in the precinct),´ she said. #DisiplinaMuna #AntiCOVID19 #COVID19WatchCDO #LGUCDOcampaign #Yourgovernmentatwork #Kaabag #Hapsay #CDOCityHallCollaboration #TheBiggerPictureForCDO #NagkahiusaBatokCOVID-19
